Booking Appointments

March 16, 2020- please see the announcement on the CFT webpage at cftcentre.uoguelph.ca [1]

To make an appointment, call the Centre's Intake line at 519-824-4120 ext. 56426

If no one is available immediately, please leave a message with your name, contact information, and reason for call. Make sure you indicate when is a good time to contact you during business hours.

You can also email your request for an intake phone call to our email at cftadmin@uoguelph.ca [2] (email address) [3]. This email address is monitored during regular business hours.

When we receive your message, one of our staff will call to ask for some initial information. This is not the intake, but a request for service that is then passed onto the intake team.

What is the process to make an appointment?

Once your request for service is recived, a member of the intake team will call you to gather your background information and the concerns you would like to address in therapy. During this call you will have opportunity to ask questions and your fee will be determined. The intake call will take 10-15 minutes.

After the intake conversation a Therapist Intern will call you to book a first appointment session. Please note that all appointment scheduling is made by telephone. Therapist Interns are not permitted to contact clients via e-mail.

Our aim is to contact you within three to five business days; however there are times of the year when this is not possible, given the availability of Therapist Interns. We try to anticipate these seasonal fluctuations and when necessary inform prospective clients of a longer wait. Please check our home page for updates.

Do I need a doctor’s referral to obtain services from the CFTC? - NO

Anyone can make a referral to the CFTC.  If you have access to third party coverage (Insurance; Employee Assistance Program) you will need to verify that your plan covers the services of a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist or Registered Psychotherapist.
